ST AUGUSTINE'S Church One World Group have been planning fundraising events.

A coffee morning will be held in St. Augustine's Church Hall this Saturday, June 7 from 10am to noon.

Entrance at 50p includes coffee and biscuit and there will be the usual sale of bric-a-brac, home-made cakes and books.

The annual Ritz tea is to be staged on Saturday, June 28 from 2pm to 5pm in St Augustine's Church Hall.

Tickets at £2.50 are available from the church, and participants are asked to dress up for the occasion, with ladies in their best hats, for a competition during the afternoon.

  • RESIDENTS, staff and friends at The Lawns Care Home are looking forward to Sunday, June 8, when there will be a tabletop sale at the Fernhill Day Centre, Ferhill Avenue, from 11am until 3pm.

Coffee and cakes will be available and there will be a full range of stalls, selling books and bric-a-brac.

  • THE Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens committee met recently.

An alliance has been agreed between the Friends Group and the Centenary Club, which means that members of the Friends may now use the café and toilet facilities.

However, Friends are encouraged to join the Centenary Club in their own name.

The club will also report incidents occurring in the Park and Gardens.

The Friends are planning to install an all-weather surface in the children's play area.

Cost estimates are being obtained for this, as are indicative prices for play equipment.

Funding for these projects may well be best achieved through another application to Sport England, but the committee members are considering all options.

A picnic event, to take place in the Park and Gardens on September 6 was agreed.

However, entertainment of some sort will be required, but no decision was made at this stage and further discussion will determine the format for this event.

Friends chairman, Jim Sinclair presents his illustrated talk to the St. Aldhelm's Friday Night Club at 7.30 pm this Friday (6) in the church lounge.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy an interesting social evening.

  • PREPARATIONS for the St Aldhelm's pig roast are hotting up.

On Saturday, June 28 between 4pm and 7pm, this annual community event involves fun and games for youngsters of all ages.

A full range of refreshments will be on offer in addition to the traditional roast pork.

There will again be a display of art in various forms on the day in the church.

Watercolours, photographs, ceramics, embroidery and flower arranging will be featured and this year there is to be special incentives for children to contribute examples of their work.

Anyone wishing to exhibit their work at this event should contact St Aldhelm's Church for arrangements and further details.
