A DEER had to be rescued by firefighters after getting itself trapped in a swimming pool in Weymouth.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said crews - including specialist animal rescue teams - were alerted to a property in Court Road, Redlands shortly before 10.30am today.

Firefighters managed to coax the deer out of the swimming pool.

A fire service spokesman said: "The crews checked the deer over.

"It appeared to be unhurt and was released back into the wild."
