GUITARIST Zac Harris fought off strong competition to win a place at a music festival in Weymouth this summer.
Zac was picked from six young musician finalists battling it out in Dorchester's Corn Exchange for a place on the main stage at Evolve, being held at Lodmoor Country Park on July 25 and 26. His prize also includes time in a recording studio to make a demo CD.
Two other finalists - Coracle and Psychotic Love - were chosen as runners-up and will be invited to play on the small stage at the festival.
Organiser Chris Walsh said he now hoped to run the competition every year.
He said: "I was delighted with how it went. The Corn Exchange was packed with families and supporters and it created a great atmosphere for these young artists. Everyone was clapping and cheering."
