Purbeck residents are to get the opportunity to help shape new guidelines on planning applications.

The public consultation will be used to develop Purbeck District Council's development control policies.

It is part of the core strategy document of the Purbeck local development framework', which aims to make the planning process quicker and more streamlined.

Local people can have their say by answering a series of questions on the issues and options paper for detailed development control policies'.

The public's view will be taken into consideration when making decisions on planning applications.

The council has said in many cases, national guidance, regional guidance, Purbeck's broad policies and other evidence will be sufficient, but where it is not, they need to produce these additional policies to fill the gaps.

The formal consultation will begin on June 2 and run for six weeks, closing on July 14.

Leader of the council, Councillor Gary Suttle, said: "I am delighted that the residents of Purbeck have the opportunity to play a role in forming the council's new planning guidelines. I urge everyone to take part ."
