A six year old girl is in a serious condition following a crash near Dorchester on Saturday night.
The collision took place at around 8pm on Saturday, October 29 and involved two cars - a black Ford Focus and a silver Mercedes - on the A37 at Holywell Cross.
The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries whilst two passengers suffered minor injuries - all three were taken to hospital via land ambulance for treatment.
A six year old girl, also a passenger in the Ford, had to be airlifted to hospital where she is in a serious condition.
All of the occupants of the Mercedes were uninjured.
The road remained closed between Dorchester and Yeovil for several hours to allow emergency services to treat the injured people and make the road safe.
Crews from Maiden Newton Fire Station and Yeovil Fire Station were at the scene alongside the police and ambulance service.
A spokesperson for Maiden Newton Fire Station said: " We would urge anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward to assist the Police to better understand what happened.
"We sincerely hope that all involved will make a full recovery."
Officers investigation the serious injury road traffic collision are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
They said they were looking to "establish the full circumstances" of the collision and were keen to speak to any witnesses.
Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: "We are carrying out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to please contact us.
"I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
"Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place. These are necessarily to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and for an examination of the scene to be conducted."
