A man has been jailed after being caught driving whilst disqualified.
Lee William Barnett, whose address was given as Corston Street, Poundbury, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 14 for sentencing.
Barnett, 34, pleaded guilty to one charge of driving whilst disqualified and one count of driving without the relevant insurance.
The charges related to an incident on August 10, 2022 when Barnett was caught driving a Suzuki motorcycle on Bridport Road, Dorchester.
He received a 16 week prison sentence with the court ruling the offence was “so serious because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders.”
He was ordered to pay a £154 surcharge to fund victim services and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for 38 months.
For the charge of driving without insurance no separate penalty was imposed.
