PORTLAND-based rescuers were scrambled after an Army training helicopter crashed, killing two people.
The Portland Coastguard helicopter was requested as back-up in a rescue mission after the Squirrel aircraft came down in fields near Torrington, North Devon, today.
It is understood a rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor in Devon was first at the scene and airlifted the injured man to hospital. The Portland helicopter then returned to base.
