A road in Dorchester was closed in both directions last night following concerns for a woman's welfare on a bridge.
As reported by the Echo, Maiden Castle Road was shut in both ways from Clarence Road to the school according to traffic monitoring service INRIX.
This was due to welfare concerns of a woman on a bridge over the road and as such the road closures were introduced as a precautionary measure.
The woman was assisted and taken to safety at 5:15pm before the road reopened later that evening.
A full statement from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 4.51pm on Tuesday, October 18 2022 raising concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge in Maiden Castle Road in Dorchester.
"Officers attended to engage with the woman and road closures were put in place as a precaution.
"The woman was taken to safety at around 5.15pm and given appropriate care."
