A man has been given a suspended custodial sentence after assaulting a vulnerable man.
Andrew Fairbairn Ronie, whose address was given as Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates' Court for sentencing on September 29.
Ronie, 37, had pleaded guilty to assault by beating and a further charge of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.
It relates to an incident on October 6, 2021, when Ronie assaulted another man in Dorchester. The court heard Ronie attacked his vulnerable victim before stamping and kicking his head whilst he lay on the ground.
The court found the offence was "so serious" that a custodial sentence was required. Ronie's guilty plea was taken into consideration when imposing sentence and he received a 12 week custodial sentence suspended for 12 months.
Ronie must pay £400 compensation. No separate penalty was issued for the use of threatening, abusive or insulting words.
