A HISTORIC vehicle rally returned to north Dorset for the first time in two years.
The Rotary Club of Sherborne held their magnificent rally in the grounds of Sherborne School with a band of over 70 enthusiasts and supporters attending despite a number of roadworks throughout their 30-mile route.
Honorary Chairman Brian Chant said that the HVR Committee was grateful to those entrants for making the event a success once again; of the total raised, £1000 will be donated to the Friends of Yeatman Hospital.
This is the 27th year of the event in its current form and, during that time, £64000 has been raised for local and Rotary-supported charities.

A spokesperson for the rotary club said: "A special mention should also go to the marvellous Sherborne Town Band who entertained the public and entrants alike while the judging took place, and to Abbey FM, and in particular Ken Horswell, who provided expert commentary throughout the event."
This year's HVR was sponsored by Broadpeak Car Storage, Brotherwood, Greenslade Taylor and Hunt, and Hunt’s Food Group.
Next year’s event will be on Sunday, August 27.
