I REFER to the story concerning the disabled having their parking rights withdrawn or adjusted (Boycott town call to disabled drivers' Echo, May 24).

This is another little money earner and will increase the council's income by £25,000.

Isn't it time the council found some original ways of raising money for their budget rather than hit anyone who owns a car (interestingly enough, the present Government does the same - car tax up, fuel costs up).

We are all aware of the non-genuine disabled who take advantage of the blue badge scheme - they park, walk the dog, run or jog to do their shopping.

Maybe we should start by weeding them out first?

If ever people deserve our support and encouragement to get out and about it has to the disabled.

One day some of us reading this will genuinely have need of a disabled parking badge.

Think again Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
