ST JOHN'S School headteacher Diana Mason says Year Four pupils are going to Leeson House Educational Adventure Centre and Year five are off to Cornwall and the Eden Project.

Later in June Year six will go to Guernsey and Year three will have their sleepover in school.

Mrs Mason congratulated pupils Denni Record and Maria Polley, who got through to the last ten of the auditions for the child, Cosette in Les Miserables (Weymouth version!) Maybe in a few years' time they will be auditioning for shows such as I'd Do Anything with Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber!

  • THE school Kan Vocals Choir has been invited to perform at St John's Church Summer Fun Day (at the Esplanade, on Saturday, June 7) The children have been rehearsing a High School Musical Medley and will perform in the Church Grounds at 2.30pm.

The Kan Vocals Choir will also be performing at St John's School Summer Fair on Saturday, June 14 at 11.40am.

Mrs Mason expressed a big thank you to Mrs Baillie (Kan Vocals teacher) for all her efforts with the children over the past three years, and to thank her especially for staying on with the children for an extra session in preparation for the Fun Day.

She will be taking a break from teaching commitments in preparation for the birth of her first baby in June.

  • ST JOHN'S School summer fete will take place on Saturday, June 14 from 11am until 2.30pm.

The whole school is hoping for good support for this event. There is sure to be a lot of fun and a full range of attractions will be featured.

There will be plenty of food on sale at the barbecue, as well as icecreams and refreshments.

Entertainment throughout will be provided by Brass Tacks Band, Kan Vocals, Country Dancing, Concept Band, Punch & Judy, French dancing and Taiko Evolution Drumming Group, This is a major fundraising event for the PTA.

  • THERE is a wide range of activities encompassing the arts, sport and socials currently happening at Southill Community Centre.

The main hall is available on Monday and Sunday evenings It is ideal for dancing, sport and various functions. For details, call Rod Stone on 772601.

There are also two smaller rooms that are suitable for groups of up to eight in one and up to fifteen or so in the other.

The centre also offers ample free parking and, kitchen facilities.

  • HOMEMADE scones as well as stalls with homemade cakes and produce are among the attractions soon at URC.

Radipole's United Reform Church in Spa Road willhold a Cream Teas Event in aid of Church Funds on Saturday, June 7 from 2pm to 4pm.

  • PREPARATIONS are now underway for the Southill School Summer Fayre which takes place at the school on Saturday, June 21.

Starting at 11am there will be a host of attractions, with a special barbecue and other refreshments, a bouncy castle and lots more.

Donations of prizes and sponsorship will be most welcome and anyone wishing to contribute is asked to contact the school, as the organisers will be most grateful for such support.
