ELDERLY residents in Radipole have been warned to be on their guard after a series of burglaries targeting vulnerable homeowners.
The latest incident reported by police involved a burglar entering the home of a disabled man in his 80s and stealing cash and bank documents.
PC Gary Mason, of Weymouth Police, said the burglary, at a property in Radipole Court, occurred while the victim was at home.
He said: "A man walked into the flat and started to search through drawers within the bedroom area.
"It has been established that cash to the value of about £100 and bank documents have been stolen.
"The victim, who uses a walking frame, approached the offender but the raider just carried on with his search.
"No force was used but the victim was left traumatised and distressed by the incident."
The burglar was described as white, about 6ft tall and of stocky build with short dark hair.
Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Mason on 01305 222222.
PC Mason said: "This appears to be part of a series of similar incidents within that area of Weymouth and I'm asking residents to be on their guard."
