BOVINGTON Camp has hosted a visit by the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment who took delivery of the 500th Bulldog tank to roll off the production line.
The delivery, part of an Army equipment upgrade, saw soldiers just back from a tour of duty in Basra with the Regiment meet the engineers and mechanics who built the 13-tonne armoured vehicle. It is part of a £235 million programme to upgrade 900 of one of the British Army's workhorse vehicles, the FV430 Mk 2 armoured personnel carrier.
The tanks are given new engines and those headed for Iraq also get armour, a remotely-operated machine gun and other equipment.
