A LARGE heath fire in the Purbecks was tackled by around 100 firefighters this afternoon.
Police officers warned members of the public to stay away from the dangerous blaze at Studland.
The fire, at Studland Road near the chain ferry terminal, was fuelled by strong winds and forced ferry operators to cancel crossings.
More than 20 fire engines attended the fire, which affected about three hectares of heath.
It was brought under control within three hours and there were no reports of any injuries or properties being at risk.
