CHRIS Thorne and Pamela Daters featured in multiple finals as Bridport Bowls Club staged its keenly-anticipated finals weekend.
Thorne started his campaign with victory in the handicapped singles against Ben Jones.
This battle continued into the championship singles – a hard fought game where Jones was victorious by a single shot, winning 21-20.
Bridport’s ladies championship singles was another hard-fought tussle between Daters and Lyn Craddock. It took 24 ends for Daters to finally win 21-18.
Craddock and Cheryl Mackenzie contested the handicapped singles in another marathon of 24 ends with the latter winning 21-18.

The ladies’ two-wood singles between Daters and Laura Taylor was a frustrating game with both ladies struggling on a difficult rink. However, after 20 ends Taylor finally won 14-10.
Elsewhere, Bridport played a return friendly against Ottery St. Mary.
Matching a theme for the season there were two winning and two losing rinks but the overall shots went to Bridport thanks to a runaway victory for Bill Duthie-Jones, Sandy Peters, Mel Griffiths and Jill Willcox.
Three Bridport ladies then travelled to Blandford for the quarter and semi-finals of the Benevolent Triples.
Although Fran Morgan, Mackenzie and Craddock did not manage to reach the semi-finals it was a great achievement to get so far.
Finally, the traditional end to the season encompassed the second captain’s charity game, this time supporting the Weldmar Hospice.
The weather helped to create a party atmosphere where 18 ends were played with a tea break at half-time.
Playing positions were drawn and played with lots of laughter and banter in the warm sunshine.
Willcox was the highest scoring lady and Nick Dearnly took the honours for the men.
After adding up all the monies, including the proceeds of the raffle, the sum of £328 was raised and will be sent to Weldmar in due course.
Six Bridport men journeyed to Blandford for the final of the Percy Baker competition, which they won in style with a victory on both rinks.
Congratulations to Mike Craddock, Mike Smith, Bob Taylor, Barry Shortland, Dave Smith and Chris Thorne.
