A luxury cruise ship given a maritime blessing by a supermodel has arrived at Portland.

Seven Seas Splendor, which was christened by Christie Brinkley, reached Portland Port today.

Her arrival comes after cruise ship Norwegian Dawn was unable to stop at Portland on Monday because of high winds.

But with the weather considerably calmer today the Regent Seven Seas ship has stuck to its cruise itinerary which will give its passengers a chance to explore Weymouth in relatively good autumn weather.

It will remain in port until 10pm tonight.

Seven Seas Splendor is a smaller ship, accommodating just 738 passengers.

She was christened by one of the world's most recognised supermodels Christie Brinkley in 2020, who praised the details on the ship as 'amazing, from the artistic style of the Italian marble, the artwork and chandeliers, to the sculpture of the mythical dragon outside Pacific Rim.'

The ship features more than 46,000 square-feet of Italian marble and a $5 million curated fine art collection that is said to be the most discerningly curated collection of museum-quality 20th- and 21st-century art on the seas. Her 375 suites include nearly 52,000 square-feet of balcony space – among the largest cruise ship balconies in the world. The beautifully appointed suites range from the 307 square-foot Veranda Suite to the lavish 4,443 square-foot Regent Suite.
