THE community forum is very pleased that students from Weymouth College are going to help us with painting parts of the centre.

They are doing the stairwell and both sets of toilets as part of their college work.

This works two ways the forum get our decorating done and they get practice for their coursework.

Many thanks to Dave Corbin, Mike Sharples, Angela McCann and of course the students for arranging this.

We look forward to working with the college in the future with some more building work.

They are making a really good job of it.

  • NOT many people know that we have a full-size badminton court available, which can be hired subject to room availability with rackets etc.

We would like to start sessions as part of the Healthy Living project with the Royal Crescent Surgery.

Plans and a funding bid will shortly be placed for a very exciting project with the surgery to improve the Health of all the residents in a fun way involving lots of partners which is all about the community.

More details will follow when they have been finalised.

We also have a full size snooker table, pool table and table-tennis.

Various youth activities take place throughout the week. Please call in and see what is happening for yourself.

Of course we also have the main hall and upstairs room available for hire, including a children's party offer.

Please call 01305 839579 and speak to Lawrence for further details.

  • WE ARE pleased to welcome various groups of visiting students from EP who use the upstairs room when the weather is not so good during the evening.

I would like to congratulate them on being well-behaved and polite; it is a pleasure to have them at the centre.

  • IT IS over a year since the forum took over the Park Community Centre and the number of people using it has grown fourfold, a tremendous achievement due mostly to Lawrence Adams, centre manager, perusing new groups and offering space and guidance.

As always we still have to raise funds and thanks to South West Trains we are holding a tombola and book stall on the railway station forecourt on Bank holiday Monday, May 26.

Please support the community forum and if anyone would like to help please contact Lawrence on 839579.

If anyone has any small items for use as a tombola prizes we would be very grateful.

  • NOW for something completely different - a first at the Park Community Centre, Chelmsford Street - we are hosting a play called The Voyage on Saturday, June 14 at 7.30pm.

This is a play written by Lee Stroud and preformed by Off the Wall Theatre Ensemble, and tells the story of a wealthy heiress who murders her husband and is sent aboard and as the name suggests her adventures on board the boat.

For tickets, which cost £5, please telephone the centre on 01305 839579 or Lee Stroud on 01305 259308.

This is going to be a very interesting night so please make the effort and come along.
