FENCES have been deliberately cut by vandals near Dorchester.

Police said fences near the Warmwell Cross roundabout were targeted.

Officers are worried livestock could escape onto busy roads in the area and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police Community Support Officer Vicky Hedges said: "The fences may have been cut by poachers, walkers or other countryside users.

"I'm keen to hear from anyone who may have information about those responsible.

"A very real concern is that livestock could escape onto the busy A352 from Owermoigne towards Broadmayne or on to the A353 towards Crossways."

She added: "I would like to remind motorists to drive carefully on the county's rural roads as horses, cattle or deer could be around the next bend."

Anyone with information can contact PCSO Hedges in confidence on 01305 222222.
