Puddletown
- ARE you a young person who would like to have somewhere to meet and socialise?
In response to young people's request to Puddlletown parish council for a seating area or youth shelter in the village, all interested young people are invited to come and meet community support officer Vickie Hedges of Dorset police and Kris Hallett, community capacity worker from Dorset Community Action in the village hall on Wednesday May 28 at 4.30pm.
Refreshments will be provided.
There will be an opportunity to discuss this idea with a view to establishing a specific place for young people to meet and socialise.
If you have any enquiries about this, contact Kris on 01305 206419 or email kris.Hallett@dorsetcommunityaction.org.uk
- THE Horticultural Association's plant sale went very well indeed, with a wide variety of plants for sale and plenty of customers to buy them. £350 was made for the association's funds.
- THE monthly lunch in the village hall put on by the church events committee was very successful. There was a choice of liver and bacon casserole or chicken casserole, followed by the usual amazing array of desserts that included sticky toffee pudding, Peasant Maid with Veil, sherry trifle, apple and blackberry crumble, lemon meringue pie, sultana sponge pudding, apricot tart, key lime pie, lemon surprise, and apple and raspberry crumble.
If you can't make up your mind which pudding to have, you may have to eat your way through all ten, joked Jim Wilson as I paid my money. Better not say that to my husband, I said - he just might!
The date of the next monthly lunch in the village hall is Monday, June 9, noon until 1.30pm as usual.
Bere Regis
- BERE Regis Floral Group has a coach outing to Stourhead on Tuesday, May 27. The cost of the coach is £8, plus the cost of entrance to Stourhead, either for just the gardens or for the house and gardens, if you are not a member of the National Trust.
There are various pick-up points for the coach between Winterborne Kingston and Blandford.
There are a few seats on the coach if you would like to come along.
Telephone Gill Atkinson for details on 01929 471763.
- DURING the last week of May, church warden Bob Croom is going to cycle 100 miles in a continuous ride around the Purbecks to raise money for the resurfacing of the main pathways in the churchyard.
The cost of resurfacing the pathways is approximately £3,300.
As most Bere Regis residents know, the pathways become increasingly boggy and cause problems at weddings, funerals and for people just passing through the churchyard or going to the church.
Bob hopes to complete the ride in under six hours and raise a significant amount of money towards this project which, when completed, will result in a well-drained hard surface to make life better for all concerned.
If you would like to sponsor Bob or make a donation, then please contact him on 01929 471905.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
