BOWLS players are extending an invitation to supporters of the gentle sport - come and join us.
Gerald Cornick, secretary of the Gardens Bowling Club, said new members were being welcomed following major refurbishment of the facilities at Dorchester's Borough Gardens.
Bowls has been played at the gardens since 1906 but later switched to Sandringham in Dorchester.
Gerald said a group got going again at the Borough Gardens in the 1990s but membership has gradually reduced from its peak of 100 or more.
Club organisers say now is the time to get back to the gardens, where more than £1 million of refurbishment has resulted in excellent facilities for playing bowls and the socialising side that goes with games.
Gerald said: "Some of our members are getting elderly and not as fit as they were but bowls is for all ages so we'd like anybody who already plays or is thinking about taking it up to come along and join us.
"Dorchester Town Council has played a blinder in renovating the gardens - it's wonderful and our pavilion is now fantastic.
"The ground and surrounds are the best they've ever been - certainly for many years."
The club organises teams for league matches and also can always make sure that people can definitely play informal games.
Gerald said: "I know the facilities at Sandringham and they're super, but if anyone wants to come and join our club now that all the work is done at the Borough Gardens they'll be very welcome."
