Tolpuddle
- PIDDLE Valley district commissioner for girlguiding, Amy Knight is very sad to report that Tolpuddle brownies closed unexpectedly at the end of April.
Guider Tracey Robinson is unwell and unable to continue with brownies.
In the absence of anyone to take her place, the decision to close was the only option.
Of the 11 girls in the unit, seven have been able to join Puddletown brownies and continue with their guiding.
Tracey adds that it is very much hoped that this is a temporary closure, and if there is any lady out there between the ages of 18 and 65 who would be interested in finding out more about guiding and running a unit, then please contact Amy on 01305 848602 for a no obligation chat.
The brownies wish Tracey a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back.
The celebration of the brownies thirtieth anniversary that she had planned will still go ahead.
- TOLPUDDLE brownies thirtieth anniversary party will be held on Wednesday June 25 from 6pm until 7pm in the village hall.
Ex-brownies and brownie friends are invited to come along for coffee and cake to celebrate this special occasion.
Please contact Amy on 01305 848602 or Pat on 848433 to let them know that you are coming.
- MARTYRS' Festival weekend is coming up over the weekend of Saturday, July 19 and Sunday 20.
This is the major fund-raising event of the year for the village hall, and your help is very much needed on Sunday.
The usual all-day refreshments will be served in the village hall, and lots of you are needed - a minimum of 10-12 people per hour - to come along and help in the hall from 9am until close of day between 4pm and 5pm.
Please can you spare one or two hours of your time to help set-up, serve food and drinks, clear tables, man the till, sell mugs and tea towels or wash up and assist in the kitchen.
Just as important are your donations of home-made cakes and scones, sandwiches, wraps, quiches, flans, pizza, etc.
If you would like to donate any of these items, do contact Liz on 01305 848464 in advance, as it would be helpful to know what is coming.
This is always a great team effort and much enjoyed by everyone who helps.
Contact Liz on the above number to add your name to the list of volunteers.

- THE Yetties concert in the Drax Hall was a huge success, a total sell-out, with people coming from as far away as Gosport and Somerton to enjoy the evening.
Over £300 was made for village hall funds as a result.
Kath Jeeves says a big thank you to everyone who helped and came along to make the evening such a success.
