I REFER to the item £47,000 cost of councillors' snacks', (Echo, May 3). God bless us tax and council tax payers!
Recently we read that nationally we support our MP's expenses including furniture, TV licences, and £250 a day for expenses' including lunches and trips to the supermarket.
Now in Dorset discover we fork' out for tea and coffee and biscuits for our county councillors' meetings at an approximate cost of £12,000 a year.
How many readers take their own lunch to work, or even a flask? How many enjoy a free buffet lunch and free tea, coffee and biscuits (at someone else's expense)?
Dorset County Council leader Angus Campbell comments, Nonetheless, we keep a tight rein on these budgets and our spending has decreased over the last three years'. Wow! I am truly impressed.
I have decided that in my next life, instead of being a simple working man, I shall be either an MP or a local councillor.
I'm sick of being used and abused by those supposedly in power who make decisions on my behalf only to better their own lifestyle and worsen mine.
Tony Eames, Wyke Regis.
