THE online London 2012 Business Network has launched, offering businesses of all sizes the chance to make the most of London 2012-related opportunities.
The site includes information about current and upcoming contracts. It has been hailed as a one stop shop' for businesses to find out how to become involved.
It includes sections on what London 2012 is buying, processes and policies, opportunities and Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) suppliers, frequently asked questions and business events.
There is also the chance to sign up to business e-alerts and find out about business support. One of the most important sections is about CompeteFor - which is the chosen website for the publication of Games related contracts.
It acts as a brokerage service between buyers in the London 2012 supply chain and potential suppliers.
CompeteFor also provides access to business support services, and aims to build skills and capacity to ensure that businesses across the UK can take advantage of opportunities linked to the hosting of the London 2012 Games.
CompeteFor has been developed on behalf of the English Regional Development Agencies and UK Devolved Administrations by the London Development Agency, working closely with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).
London 2012 expects to have about 7,000 direct contracts. The Business Network gives businesses the chance to download the ODA's and LOCOG's procurement policies and guides for supplies.
There is also a list of Games related opportunities as well as a list of businesses that have supplied that Olympic Delivery Authority.
There is also a list of events lined up for businesses. They include a 2012 Construction Commitments Conference on June 5 at the Business Design Centre in Islington Green, London, from 8.30am to 5pm.
