Cricketer backs charity bike ride FORMER England cricket captain David Gower wants cyclists to get out on their bikes for the six courses of the 2008 Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on July 6.

This year's annual sponsored charity ride aims to raise £60,000 for people living with cancer.

The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride offers a choice of six circular courses. These include the 15-mile ride around Lytchett Matravers, the 25-mile ride taking cyclists through the tranquil Charborough Park and the 40-mile ride along the River Stour and Winterbourne Valley.

There are also 50 and 60-mile rides through picturesque Milton Abbas and finally the new challenging 100-mile ride. Whether you choose the 15 or 100-mile ride all cyclists are well supported with refreshments, bike mechanics and a massage.

David Gower said: "I have always been amazed at the great work Macmillan do. Please come and join in the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on July 6."
