A MAN has been ordered not to lie down in any public road after allegedly blocking an ambulance responding to an emergency.
Alan Lee Bowditch, whose address was given as Barclay Road in Weymouth, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 15.
The 22-year-old is charged with 'use of threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress', common assault of an emergency worker, and obstructing or hindering an emergency worker.
The charges related to incidents on June 20, 2022 where it is alleged Bowditch laid down on High Street East, in Dorchester, causing an ambulance to stop whilst it was responding to an emergency.
No plea was indicated and the case has been adjourned until February 10, 2023 when Bowditch will re-appear before Weymouth Magistrates Court.
In the interim the court has ordered him 'not to lie down in a public road unless in a genuine emergency, to prevent offending'.
