With the sudden sadness of our Queen and the equal proclamation of King Charles III – amongst news of a new prime minister and cabinet – we the people are all feeling a bit spun and bemused during a national crisis with our cost of living and energy supply.
Add to that our recent long lockdown during Covid and Brexit.
This is indeed a real hard time for all of us in UK.
However, whilst watching the protocol ceremonies on television, I could not be more than impressed with our UK nation.
Betwixt the two was the sadness over the loss of our long serving Queen and the joy of welcoming our new King. All emotions were split between the two, not knowing what to think.
I was furthermore greatly impressed by the ‘pomp and ceremony’ for which we hold dearly in Britain for centuries – our red-uniformed guards smartly turning out, ceremonial trumpeters adorning long traditional clothes and cannon salutes.
And later at the proclamation within the City of London – troops turning out wearing the uniform of years gone by displaying fully how far back our British tradition goes.
This could only happen in Great Britain and long may it reign along with our new King, Charles the III God save the King.
