TWO Dorset MPs have been given new roles in Liz Truss’s government.
As the raft of appoints across various ministries and departments continues, it has been confirmed Bournemouth West MP Conor Burns and Mid Dorset and North Poole MP Michael Tomlinson have taken up new posts.
Both of the Dorset representatives remained in the government when a raft of colleagues resigned in the days that followed the Chris Pincher scandal in July.
Mr Burns is now minister of state in the Department for International Trade. This comes after 12 months as minister of state for Northern Ireland.
Delighted to back @tradegovuk as Minister of State. I enjoyed working with @trussliz when she was Trade Secretary. Excited now to support @kemibadenoch in her new role. Exciting mission to boost exports and promote the UK to the world. pic.twitter.com/JKc9CjBZnm

He previously worked in the department as minister of state for trade policy between from July 2019 until May 2020 when he resigned after the House of Commons watchdog found he used his position as an MP to intimidate a member of the public.
Mr Tomlinson has been appointed solicitor general, a law officer role which will see him assist new attorney general Michael Ellis QC.
The move ends Mr Tomlinson’s time in the whips office which ran from February 2020 to July as Lord Commissioner of Her Majesty’s Treasury and as Vice Chamberlain of Her Majesty’s Household from July onwards.
