FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a skip on fire this morning in a Dorset village.

A crew from Dorchester attended the blaze in the open on Moreton Road in Owermoigne after receiving a call at 10.13am this morning.

The skip, which contained rubbish and was said to be well alight, was extinguished using one hose reel jet.

A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 10.13am this morning about a fire in the open on Moreton Road, Owermoigne.

"A crew from Dorchester attended the incident which involved a skip, well alight, containing various rubbish. Firefighters extinguished using a hose reel jet."
