IT WAS a sizzlin' day out for all the family over the weekend with the return of a pub's Dog, Sausage and Cider festival.
Quite the combination - the event was held at The Springhead pub in Sutton Poyntz - and crowds were out in droves to enjoy the day in splendid sunshine.
The day kicked off on Sunday at 11am with a full programme of entertainment including live music from The Leggomen, We Afro Tallawah and Sunstroke, among others.
Hundreds of people - and plenty of dogs - turned up to the annual showcase on what was a Bank Holiday weekend to remember.
The mighty, and meaty, sausage throwing competition returned this year and was joined by a new event - the dog recall competition.
At 1pm the main event - The Springhead Dog Show - took place raising money for Margaret Green Animal Rescue.
Classes included the waggiest tail and best young handler.
Most handsome boy was awarded to Harris, a show cocker spaniel, who boasted some impressively floppy ears. Harris is owned by Andy Roberts.
But dogs weren't the only furry friends making an appearance with 'The Ranch' providing an kid-friendly animal corner complete with goats, ponies and ever a boa constrictor that certainly captured the attention of some of the younger visitors.
Alongside the animals, of course, there was a healthy offering of sausages and cider. The sausages featured came from The Fantastic Sausage Factory, based in Weymouth, which produce more than 20 flavours of sausage; including a pork and marmalade special for the Queen's Jubilee.
Cider came from a number of local artisan producers whilst there were over 50 craft stalls showcasing the best of local produce as well as dog treats, jewellery and everything in between.
Kids were kept entertained throughout the day with face painting, a bouncy castle and meet and greets with popular characters, including Spiderman, the Minions and Baby Shark.
Margaret Green Animal Rescue is a charity based near Wareham that has specialised in rehoming animals since 1965. Margaret Green, who founded the charity, remained actively involved with the charity for over 40 years - right up until she sadly passed away on Christmas Eve in 2009 aged 94.
