A CHARITY supporting the homeless are looking for Dorset homes to 'spare a room' for a person in need.
Step by Step is looking for people across Dorset to become hosts to young people facing homelessness.
The hosts will be supporting the charity's Supported Lodgings service, where rooms in private houses are offered by a host family or individual.
The recent plea for rooms comes after more than 120,000 homeless young people approached their council for help last year.
One individual that has been supported by Step by Step is Maddi. Maddi became homeless upon leaving the care system with nowhere else to go, but the charity gave her an emergency bed, before she moved in with a host family.
With a stable place to live, Maddi could focus on her future for the first time. She has learnt key life skills, is studying at college and is looking forward to living independently.
Hosts in Dorset can be from all walks of life, but will need to be able to offer a bedroom guidance and compassion. They will receive full training, ongoing support and payment for each young person they look after.
