Motorists can expect major delays on the A35 to last until at least Tuesday.
Two way traffic lights and restrictions are in place at Morcombelake to allow “urgent repairs” to take place.
National Highways were called to the road early on Friday morning (August 19) and carried out an “urgent inspection” into a defect in the road.
It was found that there was a depression to the road surface and contractors were on-site on Friday to carry out repair work.
Heavy delays were experienced as a result of the two-way traffic lights with slow moving traffic and congestion experienced between Charmouth and Bridport.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: Two way temporary traffic lights are in place on the A35 at Morcombelake due to a depression in the road surface.
“The traffic lights are expected to remain in place until at least Tuesday.
“Please take care on approach, thank you for your patience.”
