UPDATE: road re-open as of 8.40pm
A road just north of Dorchester had to shut for over three hours following a crash.
Motorists were urged to "avoid the area" after a crash on Old Sherborne Road, near Charlton Down.
Dorchester Fire Station responded to the incident shortly before 5.40pm.
A large number of emergency service were in attendance: including the fire service and ambulance crews.
Speaking just before 6pm, a spokesperson for Dorchester Fire Station said: "There is a road closure in place on the Old Sherborne Road north of Charlton Down is currently closed due to an RTC.
"It’s likely to be closed for a couple of hours.
"Please avoid the area and find an alternative route"
