It always upsets me to read of a young motor cyclist being killed in a motor accident. (Dorset Echo, August 8)

I used to be a mod (Lambretta) in my youth, when the roads were a lot quieter. Although we did lose friends, even back then. In those days, it was not law to wear a crash helmet.
Nor so many speed limits. Motor bikes and scooters are fun, but sadly, can be very dangerous.
In 2003, I went back onto two wheels with a 500 cc scooter. But found out, how much different the roads had become and drivers, never seem, to see you!
The bike, although bought new, was a load of rubbish.
It spent more time in my garage, than in use. I had no choice, but to scrap it. A total waste of effort.
Whereas, the Lambretta, you could repair yourself. Now, as with cars, motor scooters are trying to be, too clever.
Not easy to fix.
I have to admit, I liked the era of, the Mod. Now I am a knackered OAP.
