A CHARITY has held a very successful summer lunch at a village hall to raise money for cancer research.
The Bridport Cancer Research group held the summer lunch on Thursday, July 28 at Loders Village Hall.
Around 100 guests were treated to a home-cooked lunch of ham, salmon, coronation chicken, quiche and hot new potatoes accompanied by various salads and followed by a wonderful array of delicious desserts.
A raffle was held with more than 50 wonderful prizes.
A representative from Cancer Research UK spoke to all the guests on latest developments with research and the work which is going on, such as links to companies which are making people more aware of bowel cancer.
Several local businesses supported the lunch with donations of food which enabled to group to raise £2,950, which will be used as part of the organisation's efforts to help research cancer.
Event organisers Ann Ackerman and Lucy Fearon have said they would like to thank everyone who played a part in this event which helped them to raise such a wonderful amount.
