FIREFIGHTERS have been called to another open fire in Dorset.
Crews from Dorchester and Bere Regis were called to the ‘small’ fire in a woodland near Crossways today (Saturday July 23).
A spokesperson for Dorchester Fire Station said: “Earlier today a crew from Dorchester, and the landrover from Bere Regis, were mobilised to a fire in the open, near crossways.
“On arrival crews saw smoke in the treeline and found a small fire, roughly 10m x 5m involving forest land and undergrowth. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets and beaters.”
This comes days after firefighters revealed they had been dealing with a ‘significant’ number of large incidents, with resources stretched right across the area.
