A FAMILY were rescued by emergency services after smoke billowed from their car on the A35.
Firefighters were called to the car fire on Friday (July 22) near Chilcombe.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: “On arrival crews found one car with smoke issuing from under the bonnet and a family of four, including 2 quite upset children who were concerned for the car and how they were going to get home.
“Once inspected this was found to be smoke from the clutch. After cooling and reassuring the children, the car was escorted to a safe place whilst giving the children a ride in the fire engine, which turned out to be a highlight of their holiday.
“Crews remained on scene to ensure recovery was organised and had an awesome chat about their holiday and all the fossils they found.”
