A pairing perfect for warm weather will be offered at this year's Dorset Seafood Festival.
SEAFEAST – The Dorset Seafood Festival will offer an Oyster and Miraval Rosé wine bar at this year’s festival, which takes place from September 10 to 11.
The festival will be held at Weymouth Peninsula and this year will celebrate its 15th year.
The oyster and rose wine offering will come not long after National Oyster Day on Friday, August 5.
The festival will host a pop-up Miraval Beach bar, which organisers say is 'the place to be, gorgeous wines served with delicious local oysters.'
They added: "Rosé and oysters are the perfect summer pairing, the wine perfectly balancing the saltiness of the oyster.
"The Miraval estate is situated just 80km from the coast, in Haut-Provence, the grapes are harvested at night for optimum freshness and purity.
"It is these essential qualities that make Miraval Rosé such a great match for a half or a dozen (or more) freshly shucked Oysters. The subtle acidity acts like a squeeze of lemon or pink grapefruit. The mid palate (enhanced by gentle lees contact) complements the briny-sweet spectrum of the oysters and the minerality of Miraval Rosé leaves a saline moreish edge on the palate - Parfait ...et encore!"
The Dorset Seafood Festival is one of the highlights of the foodie calendar.
This year it will offer a huge range of activities for all the family, including chef demonstrations, live acoustic music, the School of Fish children's cookery workshops and the BLUE Seas ocean health feature, as well as the freshest local seafood on offer.
Silver sponsors Hall & Woodhouse will provide Badger Beers, perfect for sipping in the September sunshine, with the team at SEAFEAST partnering with Dorset producers for a ‘Sparkling Dorset’ bar featuring English sparkling wine from exceptional Dorset producers, including Bride Valley, Furleigh Estate and Langham.
Susy Atkins, award winning wine expert for publications such as The Telegraph and Delicious Magazine, will also run a wine tasting session each day, joined by an ambassador from each winery, with the audience invited to become wine connoisseurs and taste the three Dorset Wines.
Also new to this year’s SEAFEAST is ‘The Outcasts’, a feature focusing on unusual looking fish and seafood, specifically, Monkfish, Gurnard and Spider Crab. The festival works closely with the Blue Marine Foundation to ensure there is a focus on restoring the ocean to health and to support local, low impact fisheries.
