A FORMER war correspondent will take part in a discussion on the author Thomas Hardy’s war writing.
Kate Adie, a journalist with wide-ranging experience of reporting from war zones, will be chairing a panel at Dorset Museum in Dorchester on Thursday, August 4.
She'll be joined by guests Dr Phillip Mallett (University of St Andrews) and Dr Tai-Chun Ho (National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan) for a fascinating discussion about Hardy’s war writing.
The panel will explore Hardy’s fascination with war, from his obsession with the Napoleonic era to his horror at the First World War. Alongside this, the panel will explore wider questions of a writers’ role in war, and the changing field of war reporting over the last two centuries.
The event will take place at 7pm, live at Dorset Museum.

The discussion ties in with the‘Hardy’s Wessex’ exhibitions running May 28 to October 30 at Dorset Museum, Poole Museum, The Salisbury Museum and Wiltshire Museum.
