Following the UK’s hottest day on record, Weymouth can look forward to more manageable temperatures for the rest of the week.
For the first time ever, the mercury topped 40C in places, causing heat fuelled fires and widespread transport disruption.
A new record of 40.3C, was provisionally recorded in Coningsby, in Lincolnshire, beating the previous record of 38.7C in Cambridge three years ago.

Heatwave over: Weymouth weather forecast
Ending on a high, literally, the heatwave that has gripped the nation is finally at an end and it will feel fresher over the next few days, according to the Met Office.
Here’s what the national weather service is predicting for the rest of the week.

Wednesday
In contrast to the last few days, Wednesday is expected to be overcast all day with the chance of some sunny intervals in the late evening.
While it is likely to stay dry, those cloudy conditions will help to bring temperatures down to the high teens and low 20s.
Thursday
You can look forward to more sunshine on Thursday when a cloudy start will clear away leaving a sunny afternoon and evening.
Overall, a summery feeling day with highs of 22C and lows of 17C.
Friday
More sunny conditions are forecast for Friday, steadily brightening as they day progresses, revealing clear skies and temperatures similar to Thursday.
Saturday and Sunday
Cooling a little over the weekend with highs of just 20C, the week will finish up with more dry and bright weather.
