TWO TRAVELLER encampments have been served with eviction notices and moved on within a 48-hour period.
Dorset Police first received a report of one encampment in Mercury Road, Weymouth on the evening of Wednesday July 13.
They were subsequently issued a notice under section 62 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to leave the site. Police monitored the situation and the group left the site on the morning of Friday July 15.
Police went on to receive another report the following day. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We was called at 11.05am on Thursday 14 July 2022 relating to an unauthorised encampment in Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth.
“The group was issued with a direction under section 62 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to vacate the site. Officers continued to monitor situation to ensure the notice was complied with.
“The group left the site during the morning of Friday 15 July 2022.”
