WEYMOUTH has been named as one the most 'dog-friendly staycation towns' in the UK.
Coming in at fifth place, Weymouth will now not only be boasting about its coastline but also its array of dog-friendly campsites, hotels and pubs after scoring 49.6.
Camping and glamping experts Pitchup revealed the UK’s most dog-friendly towns from their new research. The scores were determined by analysing a range of factors such as the number of dog-friendly campsites, hotels, beaches, pubs/restaurants, vets, walks, events/tourist attractions and pet shops.
Weymouth offers 29 dog-friendly campsites, 91 dog friendly hotels, and if you’re looking for a bite to eat with your pooch there are 18 dog-friendly pubs in the area too.
The research also rated the town on different areas out of 10 based on its dog friendliness. Campsites came in at 8.9, pet shops 7.9, dog friendly beaches 6.4 and tourist attractions 6.4.
The most dog-friendly town according to the research is Whistable, Kent scoring 52.2; in second place is Torquay, Devon scoring 51.8; third place Bognor Regis, West Sussex scoring 50.7; fourth place Eastbourne, East Sussex scoring 50.
