A NEW care home is set to open its doors to residents, creating up to 80 jobs over the next 12 months – and recruitment is now open.
Weymouth Manor, situated on Radipole Lane at Southill, Weymouth, will be opening in September, offering residential care for 66 people.
Locals hope the opening of the facility may help the campaign to get a bus service back in Southill.
Run by Chanctonbury Healthcare, the home will have a number of facilities, including a sky bar, library, tea room and cinema, as well as a hair and beauty salon. The property has been designed and built around the needs and requirements of the residents.
The company is currently recruiting for a number of roles, including care assistants, support, kitchen and domestic staff and welcome applicants.
With three other homes in Sussex, Weymouth Manor is both Chanctonbury’s fourth residential home and its first property in Dorset.
The owners Barry and Sharon Sinclair said: "We are very excited and so grateful to be able to open this service for the local communities of Weymouth after such challenging times.
"We hope to successfully employ approximately 70 to 80 team members over the next 12 months. We’ve had extremely positive feedback from the very friendly local community.
"We love Weymouth and we are looking forward to delivering our super care services to this fabulous seaside town. See you for the opening in late summer."
Town councillor for Southill David Harris said: "We are really pleased to see this opening in September. It is going to be bringing additional jobs to Weymouth with it, and we hope it will interest people who may want to work there.
"I know that myself and residents will be happy to see 66 new people living in this care home and we are hoping that this might give us an opportunity to get a bus reinstated in Southill."
Lisa Barnes-Metcalf, Home Manager at Weymouth Manor said: “Everyone is thrilled and delighted to open our first home in Dorset and we are actively seeking staff to come and join us on our journey. Working in a brand new home during its opening is a fabulous way to understand how the home operates, but it also allows staff to make a real impact as we prepare – as a team – to open our doors to new residents.
"It is an exciting time but, for our staff, it represents the start of the opportunities to progress their career. We are a progressive employer and help every member of staff to make the most of their role. We are dedicated to training and development and believe that our staff are well worth investing in.”
Ms Barnes-Metcalf added: “As a residential care home, we bring together the best of the personal touches with highly professional care; for us, our staff are a huge part of our community and it’s their commitment and dedication that makes life so wonderful for our residents.”
Chanctonbury Healthcare promotes learning and development across all job roles within their residential homes, from senior care staff to domestic roles and are recruiting now.
