A SWASHBUCKLING cast at a pop-up theatre is getting ready to provide belly laughs this summer.
Summer pantomime Pirates Ahoy! and productions for adults are being staged at new temporary theatre the 'Lodmoor Palladium' at Lodmoor Country Park, Weymouth, over nine days in August 2022.
The technical abilities of the venue will allow productions to feature full scale scenery, a theatrical lighting rig and visual effects.
The pop-up venue is described as 'a state-of-the-art tensile structure combining the concept of a traditional theatre format, with big-top excitement and aesthetic'.
The high seas summer fun will come from Made to Measure Productions, which staged summer pantos at Weymouth Pavilion for nearly a decade.
Shows at the 'Lodmoor Palladium' are not just for youngsters.
It will also be playing host to a diverse programme of evening entertainment including drag performers, cinema experiences and the ever-popular Pirates Ahoy! Grown Ups Only performances.
The summer pantomime promises 'sumptuous scenery, colourful costumes, toe-tapping tunes and belly-laughter by the bucketful.'
As well as the entertainment provided inside the Theatre Tent, local food vendors and outdoor activities will also be ongoing throughout each day in the event arena.
Panto producer and writer Lee Redwood said: “Our swashbuckling pirate pantomime has been a staple of the Weymouth summer season for nine years and moving the show into our own venue will allow us to be limited only by our imaginations.
"Everybody at Made to Measure Productions is so excited to be introducing a brand new, purpose-built venue for our productions and we are so happy with the support we have received from Weymouth Town Council, Lodmoor Parks Department and The Friends of Lodmoor Country Park.
"Over the last decade, we have been committed to creating bespoke productions, specifically written and produced for Weymouth, and we can’t wait to continue that legacy at our new venue, the stunning Lodmoor Palladium.”
Lodmoor Palladium will be open from Saturday, August 13 until Sunday, August 21 with twice daily Pirates Ahoy! performances and varying evening performances.
