TWO WOMEN have been arrested for assault and public order offences following reports of fighting yesterday evening.

Weymouth & Portland Police’s Purple Squad were called to the incident on Tuesday after “several” reports of people fighting on Westham Bridge.

Two females from the local area were subsequently arrested by the Purple Squad with assistance from officers from the Professional Development Unit.

The individuals were taken to custody whilst an investigation continues.

A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said: “Thanks to those members of the public who phoned us to report the incident allowing our officers to deal robustly with this type of anti-social behaviour.”
