POLICE across Dorset are urging the public to take note on which service to contact when dealing with parking issues.
Dorset Police said abandoned cars and anti-social parking are dealt with by Dorset Council, while untaxed cars need to be reported to the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).
Dorset Police said the emergency service does not have any legal powers for vehicles parked on double yellow lines, vehicles parked inconsiderately or contravening parking restrictions.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "Unless it's been left in a dangerous place badly parked, abandoned or untaxed cars, are not matters for police.
"We try to help whenever we can, but we're not always the best people to call in every situation."
