A MAN has been arrested and is due to appear in court for allegedly threatening an elderly woman with a carving fork in Weymouth.
Police said that at around 2pm on Wednesday, June 22, it is alleged that a man was acting anti-socially in the town centre.
A further report was received that the man threatened an elderly woman with a sharp item in the area of St Thomas Street.
A carving fork was seized from the scene and a man was arrested.
Kian Hunwick, 20 and of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 24.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the alleged public order incident.
Police Constable Kirsty Keyte, of Dorset Police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please get in touch.
“I would also like to make a direct appeal to the alleged victim to please come forward so we can establish exactly what happened.”
