BRIDPORT Fire Station say THREE 'suspicious' bin fires in the early hours of the morning could have caused 'a risk to life'.
Crews from the station were initially called out at 2.05am this morning to reports of a bin fire on West Street.
On arrival firefighters found "one bin well alight against a building" and extinguished it.
The second crew wasn't required at the scene but whilst returning to the station they found a second bin on fire outside Bridport Post Office: the crew extinguished the blaze using one hose reel jet.
Following this incident the crew was then called to a bin on fire in Rivervale: between a fence and a car.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "Due to suspicious circumstances the police were requested to attend and hopefully will be able to obtain CCTV footage.
"Thankfully there was no damage to any properties other than the bins.
"Had these fires not been spotted and dealt with quickly it could have escalated further resulting in significant fires causing major damage to property and risk to life."
