WEYMOUTH College welcomed prospective students and employers to their first on campus open day in two years.
Visitors were able to tour departments, browse stands, enjoy live music and entertainment and find out about the courses offered by the college.
It’s the first open day to be held in person since the pandemic and the college’s newly redeveloped Higher Education Centre was among the facilities on show.
Martin Oliver, Head of Curriculum, said: “The open day was a great success with a mixture of visitors coming through the doors.
“They included parents and prospective students considering A Levels, T Levels, apprenticeships and BTEC courses as well as employers seeking to find out more about higher education courses to help with their business needs and skills training up to degree level.
“It was great to showcase the newly redeveloped Higher Education Centre for students on our range of foundation degrees, degrees, HND and HNC courses.”
In addition to the information around courses there was also live music from the college band as well as a barbecue with donations going towards projects supporting Ukraine.
Principal and Chief Executive, Julia Howe, and Vice Principals Phil Templeton and Kelly Bush were among the senior leadership team welcoming students to the event.
Weymouth College runs more than 250 courses for over 3,000 students, including access to higher education courses, university level degrees and Higher National Diplomas in partnership with the University of Plymouth and Pearson.
At the latest Ofsted inspection, in March 2020, the college was awarded ‘Good’ overall with Ofsted praising how senior leadership had aligned the curriculum with local and regional employment priorities.
End of year exhibitions featuring the work of current students will run until July 1 at the campus’ Chesil Building.
Mr Oliver added: “We were pleased to provide information to prospective students and employers on the day and accept enrolments too.
“Enrolments are still open for many courses so it is not too late to find out more information about what is on offer for September 2022.”
