A COMMUNITY has been left ‘gutted’ after their Jubilee-themed post box topper was removed, believed stolen.
The knitted decoration features the Queen’s swans swimming in a lake with lily pads around an island of Her Royal Highness’ coronation crown. It was made by Julie Ann Salter from Llanon, Wales for the residents of Lansdowne Square in Weymouth to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
It adorned the post box on the corner of Lansdowne Square and Wyke Road and is believed to have been stolen during the evening of Tuesday, May 24.
Resident, Pat, said: “I’m so disappointed someone stole it. Lansdowne Square community are, like myself, just gutted someone had the audacity to steal it from the post box. People were happy to see it as they went in and out the road and it was preparation for the street party we are planning.
“It would mean a lot to have it returned. I'm surprised in a lovely seaside town that this happens, that someone would spoil and steal what isn’t theirs.
“Could people keep an eye out for it please. A lot of work went into it and we would like it back. We’re really gutted, it was so lovely.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the post box topper should contact Pat on 07730 654910.
